March 13th, 1998 - Cullybackey Environmental Improvement Association switched on samples of its new Christmas Lighting for the comment and approval of residents and traders prior to the purchase of the entire scheme. The Switch on Ceremony was performed by Cllr. Desmond Armstrong, Deputy Mayor of Ballymena. Most of the funding for the purchase came from the local community, with a small grant from LEDU and the International Fund for Ireland making up the balance. The final lighting scheme was officially Switched On on the 4th December, 1998 by the US Vice-Consul, Mr. Eric Barboriak. (Please see "Christmas Lighting Ceremony" page in our Past Events section).
