North Antrim Farming Groups Got Together

Farming groups in North Antrim enjoyed an evening's entertainment in the Marine Hotel, Ballycastle in December 2004 which was funded by Moyle Rural Programme.

Hosted by Ian Harvey of Rural Reality, Farm Week, there was a variety of speakers. DARD gave an update on the Mid-Term Review and Cross Compliance and Sean Henry of SEUPB spoke about Peace II Funding. There were very interesting talks by local farmers on their groups' activities and speakers on the local Focus Farms.

Later in the evening there was a hilarious sketch, "Seeing oursels' as ithers see us!" by Robert Ramsey and David McClarty, suitably followed by a hot buffet. A raffle was held to raise money a charity Ian Harvey is involved in.

Nearly 100 people came along and it was a great opportunity to appreciate the groups who have made a great success of available E.U. funding. This networking evening showed the significant recent progress of farming groups and brought people together from a mix of backgrounds and lifestyles.

A booklet was produced to accompany the evening and is available free. Contact 217 72100 for a copy.

Women's Evening

Different groups and agencies spent the evening chatting and giving advice to local women in Cushendall last autumn.

DARD, the Housing Executive, Moyle Enterprise Company, BCW, the Social Security Agency, Cook It!, Action Cancer, Moyle One Stop Shop and a complimentary therapist were all there . There were also other information leaflets available.

It was a great opportunity to bring government departments and other organisations to a local venue and local women found it very useful. One woman said it was, "A very informative evening".
