The Glens of Antrim Angling Development Association

THE PROPOSAL

The Association's primary objective is to arrest the drastic decline in the stocks of indigenous salmonoid species in the Glens of Antrim rivers and lakes which are fished by members of its constituent clubs and to restore game angling in these waters to its own former standard.

The project will involve a program of improvements over a number of years, and will include such items as comprehensive river surreys, provision of local salmon and sea trout hatchery facility, rehabilitation of river environment , stabilisation of river beds and the formation of pools , refurbishment of existing fixtures and provision of news ones, improved access paths and facilities for disabled anglers etc.

As a result, the usage of local waters by visiting anglers will be greatly increased, with subsequent benefits to tourism and the local economy.

The Association feel that the angling potential of the Glens area has long been neglected, and that our project will greatly enhance the attractions of this very scenic area. We have been greatly encouraged by the support already received from the local community for this project, and we look forward to progressing it vigorously when finance becomes available.
