About the Group

The Glenariff Development Group was formed, following a public meeting in the Bay Hall Glenariff, on Tuesday the 18th. of June 1991.Originally the group consisted of only nine members, but this number has grown over the years to almost two hundred members. The Group meets once a month.

Group activities are organised around the Executive Committee, and work is further carried out by sub committees under the headings of Magazine, Projects, and Environmental Improvements.

The Group is concerned with the following:

(1) The Provision of more adequate Community Services.

(2) The Economic advancement of the area.

(3) Promotion of the Glens as an area for Tourism.

(4) Creating awareness of , and encouraging the local population to take an interest in, their locality.

(5) Encouraging locals to express themselves , to some extent, through the Group Magazine Fios.

(6) Raising Funds or Volunteer Services to achieve objectives.
