The Model for the Project

The model on the previous page outlines those who are involved in the Project and the issues that need to be addressed.  The main aim of the Project is to develop a partnership between the community groups and networks and the Northern Health and Social Services Board.  To achieve this, partnerships need to be established and built on with other providers of health and social care, statutory agencies and voluntary groups, alongside those with community groups and networks, to ultimately develop a sustained confidence within local communities in articulating their views and shaping services delivered to them.

As can be seen in the model and from the findings that follow there is a need to:

§         share appropriate information in an understandable form, using a common language

§         improve access to the Northern Health and Social Services Board and have a direct point of contact

§         increase the knowledge and understanding of the structure and decision making processes with Health and Social Services

§         build confidence within communities using a variety of methods

§         raise awareness of issues around health and social wellbeing

§         ultimately, through the above measures, influence decision making within Health and Social Services so that they meet local need and assist the commissioning process.
