Craft Connections
AIMS : The Craft Connection is the project of a group of
craft producers
from the North Antrim area, who believe
that the main barrier to
successfully pursuing craft as
a full-time business and self-employment opportunity is
the lack of a marketing support service available to all
small scale craft producers in Northern Ireland, rather
than a lack of
business skills amongst individual craft
producers themselves.
The Craft Connections aims to: •Provide a marketing
backbone to
support craft workers by means of an active
marketing plan which incorporates annual craft
fairs/exhibitions and permanent retail outlets. •Connect
craft producers and hobbyists with the large retail
markets and
networks open to those wishing to pursue
craft as a part-time or
full-time business opportunity.
•Bridge the gap between the small
scale producer and
wider market opportunities through provision of
marketing & business skills and support and access to
these.

Glens of Antrim Historical Society
AIMS: The Glens of Antrim Historical Society has been in
existence for
46 years. Its objective is to conserve and preserve the
cultural
heritage of the Glens amongst the general public and to
encourage
young people to engage with and appreciate that
heritage.
Over the years the Society has published a significant
collection of
books exploring the local area, its culture and
traditions.
It has worked with local people and schoolchildren to
expand and
enhance their knowledge of the past. Our most recent
project has
been ‘The Clachan Project’, a study of the small
settlements or cluster housing of the Glens, associated
with the farming practices of the
18th and 19th centuries known as the Rundale System.
This extensive project involved the local community and
the Irish Diaspora.
An important element was the contribution made by local
schools.
The information has been collated onto our very
extensive website.

North Antrim Dalriada Group
AIMS
As the name suggests, the North Antrim Dalriada Group
concerns itself
with the history, culture and influence
of the ancient kingdom from
which it takes its name. The
North Antrim Dalriada Group is an apolitical body,
founded in June 1999, which has come together to both
study
and celebrate the inheritance, which the Kingdom
has left, from
historical, cultural and educational
perspectives. It seeks to rediscover
and reassert the
importance of Dalriada in the 21st century and to
provide a cross-cultural framework to enable both Irish
and Scots to
cement their shared heritage. This is a
Group which delights in all
aspects of culture,
tradition and lore pertaining to the ancient Kingdom. It
further explores links between Ireland and Scotland in
later periods
- for example, monastic, Viking,
MacDonnell eras - and to this end has
forged links with
Argyll, Arran and Donegal to develop these links even
further today.
